Large Kitchen Islands

Our Kitchen Designs design team is often asked the question, “How large can my kitchen island be?” Most of our kitchen designs include large kitchen islands when the room and architectural proportions work. We are known for our meticulous detailing so it is no surprise that no two kitchen islands we create are the same. Each kitchen island has to function perfectly in your house, celebrate your family, and practically center around the way you live in your kitchen. During our process of designing your luxury kitchen with you, we will look at the entire space and the impact the kitchen island will have to determine the design direction.

Good Design and Functionality

When designing large kitchen islands, our clients often want a dramatic focal point along with good functionality. We can achieve this in both the cabinet design, color, and countertop selection. Not everything has to match. In fact, we often use a different finishes and colorways on the kitchen island as well as on the countertops. Aesthetically the impact is spectacular, and your kitchen will beam with character. The cabinet hardware you select will further enhance the finished design.

Kitchen Island Workstations

Since much food preparation occurs on your kitchen island, we will customize your kitchen island to function well for washing vegetables, dicing, and chopping. In very large homes we often include multiple islands to improve the workflow, especially when there is a need for more than one chef in the kitchen. We find that oversized workstation sinks work very well to double as a prep and serving counter as well as a washing station. This is a perfect solution in both large and small kitchens, and it looks striking design wise.
